You’ve done your research, you’ve scoured our website and you’ve picked the perfect Low Temp Freezer or Liquid Nitrogen Freezer to help protect your research and samples. Now you have to choose the correct racks to go with it. This may seem like a daunting task but we here at LabRepCo have created a way to help with the possibly difficult task of figuring out how to organize it!
If you find yourself asking, “How do I know what types of freezer racks will fit in this unit?” or “How will I know how many will fit and how do I maximize the freezer capacity?”; we have a solution to your questions.
Guessing can lead to frustrations when the racks purchased don’t fit the freezer, don’t fit your needs or just aren’t what you thought you needed. It can also result in returns, exchanges, loss of time that could be better spent on your research and sometimes money wasted. We have a way to help you avoid all of this.
Our website has not only been upgraded to allow you to more easily browse the plethora of products we provide, but we have also updated our Freezer Rack Configurator. Using the configurator is a fast and easy way to build your own freezer rack inventory system to outfit the freezer you have chosen for your specific storage needs. It will take you through 4 steps (questions) about the unit you have chosen. This will help narrow down our catalog to the correct freezer rack(s) that will fit and optimize your freezers storage space.
**The information needed for these questions can be found on the freezer’s product page on our website. We have provided specifications and features to help you.
Step 1: What type of freezer are you looking to buy racks for?
In this first step you will be asked to identify the type of freezer need the freezer racks for. The selections you will choose from are either Chest Freezers, Upright Freezers, or Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) Freezers. This will determine whether you will need upright freezer racks or vertical (chest/LN2) freezer racks.
Step 2: Who is the manufacturer/brand of your freezer?
The make or brand of your freezer is extremely important when it comes to finding the correct racks because of various internal spaces available. All manufacturers construct their internal space differently and have different sized shelves that will fit specific units. Popular manufacturers and brands to select from are: LabRepCo Futura Series, PHC (formerly Panasonic), So-Low, NuAire, Stirling Ultracold, and more.
Step 3: What is your freezers internal capacity or Model Number?
This step will help identify the amount of internal space your freezer has and how many freezer racks will be needed to completely outfit your freezer to its maximum capacity. Unsure of what your freezers internal capacity is? The configurator also lists model numbers so you can easily identify your exact freezer without even knowing the size.
Step 4: What type of freezer racks do you need?
Whether you store biological samples in vials, tubes, microtiter plates or by other means, we offer a variety of different types of freezer racks to satisfy your cold storage needs. Select from a list of types of racks including 2” and 3” storage boxes for vials, racks for storage of centrifuge tubes, racks for storage in vapor, aluminum or stainless steel racks, drawer racks…the list goes on.
Once you have completed “Step 4” your final result will be a list of options you can choose from that will optimally fit your laboratory freezer. It will also explain the maximum racks you can fit in the freezer and how many total boxes will fit in each rack and the total amount in the freezer. From here you can simply click “View more information” about a specific freezer rack or you can click “Add to cart” to request a quote or purchase from the online store.
Our Freezer Rack Configurator can always be found at the very bottom of our website or by going to “Browse Products” and then from the drop down menu selecting “Cold Storage Products” and then clicking “Freezer racks and Inventory Systems”. This will take you to our complete selection of freezer racks, storage boxes and cell dividers, freezer rack labeling and more. The configurator is right at the top.
